Questions worth asking before you begin
Straightforward answers about self-custody, seed phrases, keys, networks, device changes and download safety, with practical next steps.
A quick safety check
Check the source, protect your backup and verify addresses before transferring assets.
Self-custody means the user is responsible for recovery credentials. Confirm the implementation in official product documentation and never hand recovery words to others.
Keys can be stored offline, but reading blockchain data and broadcasting transactions normally require a connection.
Keep all words in the right order, offline and secure. Avoid screenshots, cloud notes, email and support chats.
A private key typically signs for an address. A recovery phrase can restore a set of wallet keys. Both must remain confidential.
Verify your backup and installer, restore on the new device and compare wallet addresses before retiring the old one.
Confirm the chain, token contract and receiving network. The same token name on another chain is not automatically compatible.
Check the destination, chain, amount, fees and any token approvals. Consider a small test for unfamiliar routes.
Impersonation domains, altered files and unexpected permissions are warning signs. Verify the source before proceeding.
Be wary of requests for seed words, unfamiliar signatures, urgent threats and lookalike domains. Stop when a request is unclear.
